A Little About Me

I'm a New York City based playwright, performer, producer as well as the Founding Artistic Director of The Polar Bear Theatre Company, an intersectional arts troupe dedicated to producing work that speaks to the human condition.  I have earned a professional playwriting membership with the Dramatists Guild of America and I am also a company member with The PlayGround Experiment.

My latest play Angels Watching From Afar received a reading by The PlayGround Experiment in July, 2019.  A reading of my first play,
The Emancipation of Bonnie Marie, was produced at CAP21 studios in November of 2014.  The Rule Book Can't Apply had two readings, first in July, 2017 by The PlayGround Experiment and again one year later under my own theatre label, The Polar Bear Theatre Company.

As a performer, I recently starred in my play Ad Nauseam for The New Ambassador Theatre Company's production of The Blurring Boundaries Short Play Festival.  I was also the title character in Mr. Long as part of the 2017 Frigid New York Festival. Back in my hometown of Washington, DC, I once appeared as Klingon Hamlet (no, I'm not joking) for WSC Avant Bard in two productions of By Any Other Name: An Evening of Shakespeare in Klingon. The two performances featured George Takei and Stephen Fry respectively.  I also appeared in productions and readings for such wonderful local companies, such as Active Cultures Theatre, Rorschach Theatre, Theatre Alliance, The Theatre Lab of Washington, Unstrung Harpist and The Lazy Susan Dinner Theatre.

What's New?

8:46 Fresh Perspectives to be released June 19th!!!  The New World of Theatre is publishing an anthology of monologues about living in America while black. 8:46 Fresh Perspectives, named after the tragic murder of George Floyd by Minneapolis police, is our response to the climate of racial violence against black and brown women and men by police.

The monologue being published is Your Grandma Was Out There, an excerpt from my play Angels Watching From Afar where Patricia, the grandmother of two of the play's other characters, reveals her involvement in the riots that engulfed much of Washington, DC after MLK's assassination.

Previous Highlights

Angels Watching From Afar was featured in The First Reads Festival by The PlayGround Experiment!  My latest play explores old time religion, the civil rights movement, old school and modern feminism and #BlackLivesMatter from the point of view of an unconventional and fragile family of black women in the Nation's Capital.  http://www.theplaygroundexperiment.com/.

The Emancipation of Bonnie Marie was a finalist in the Producer's Perspective PRO Broadway play reading series!  My very first play explores the issue of domestic violence and how it affects communities throughout the globe.

Ad Nauseam was produced by the New Ambassadors Theatre Company!  The Blurring Boundaries Short Play Festival, New Ambassadors Theatre Company's inaugural short play festival, premiered at The Kraine Theater in the East Village.  Blurring Boundaries explores religious, gender and sexual (non)conformity, and how society distorts the idea of public versus private personae.  https://newambassadorstheatre.com/

I have started a theatre company!!!  The Polar Bear Theatre Company is officially open for business!  We are an intersectional arts troupe specializing in works that speak to the human condition.  Check us out and support us today!  http://www.polarbeartheatre.org/.
